Choosing and Caring for your Eyeglasses

Want to know which eyeglasses suite your face the best? Chicago Eye Care Center is more than glad to help you out.

In general…..

You might also want to think about what frame materials work best for you.

Yes everyone wants to select a frame that looks good, but you should keep in mind that your frame has to hold your lenses properly. Certain lenses work best with certain frame types, so before you buy eyeglasses, don’t forget to consult an optometrist. Chicago Eye Care Center has many such qualified professionals on board who can help you to select a frame that will work well with your prescription.

Now that you have chosen your frames, it is time to think about which lens types will work best for your life style:

Single Vision: Corrects one vision, like nearsightedness or farsightedness

Bifocal or Trifocal: Corrects more than one vision problem at the same time. These lenses have a line that differentiates the different prescriptions.

Multi-focal / Progressive:Corrects more than one vision problem at the same time. These lenses do not have a line that differentiates the different prescriptions.

Standard Plastic: A lens material that can be used for weaker prescriptions.

Polycarbonate/Impact Resistant: A lens material that is thinner then standard plastic lenses and resists cracking, making them a great option for children, sports and safety glasses.

High Index: A type of plastic lens material that is ideal for higher prescriptions.
